Ms. DiBenedetto has over 35 years of organizational leadership experience in healthcare and business, is known for “cutting edge” envisioning of trends, leading change, being a facilitator, mentor and providing dynamic leadership especially in challenging situations. She works with companies, organizations, groups and individuals to identify issues, opportunities, solutions and to define value equations for success. In addition, Ms. DiBenedetto works with organizations to develop, advise and secure education accreditation for various health related health professional designations ensuring compliance with national accrediting standards.
A leader in the field of occupational health, integrated disability management, workers’ compensation managed care, case management, and regulatory compliance, Ms. DiBenedetto has helped to develop related standards of practice, policies and procedures, training and educational programs. She is committed to excellence in practice and the mitigation of organizational, professional and personal risk. Ms. DiBenedetto’s consulting and claims administration experience includes work with state departments of insurance, third party administrators, professional and volunteer associations, self insured companies and healthcare systems to improve claim processes, information management, programs and services. She has direct experience for claim administration and oversight for the adjudication of life, disability, workers’ compensation and healthcare claims for several large self-insured employers. Ms. DiBenedetto has developed and implemented some of the first workers’ compensation managed care networks, case management and integrated disability management programs for several state departments of insurance, large self insured employers, third party administrators and insurance companies.
Ms. DiBenedetto has developed policy and programs for health, safety, productivity and regulatory compliance for leading organizations. She was one of the first “case managers” in the 1970’s when she worked as an insurance rehabilitation specialist with International Rehabilitation Associates, now Intracorp. She has worked in manufacturing at the plant and corporate levels, and at leading healthcare organizations including Montefiore Hospital & Medical Center, Francis Schervier Home & Hospital and Jansen Memorial Hospice in New York, all of which give her a broad base of experience to draw upon. She started working in the manufacturing environment at American Bank Note Company developing then new OSHA compliance programs for medical surveillance, integrating workers' compensation administration with non-occupational disability to manage return-to-work across multiple locations. At North American Philips, now Philips Electronics, Ms DiBenedetto instigated the integration of health, safety and environmental policy, developed the first NAPC Corporate Safety & Health and Hazard Communication Manuals used across North America. She was the Medical Administrator for The New York City Transit Authority, and Director Corporate Occupational Health Services for The Rockefeller Group in New York City. Ms. DiBenedetto worked as Corporate Manager Health & Productivity for The Kellogg Company directing the Feeling Great (wellness) Program, occupational health nursing, integrated disability management, workers' compensation managed care and multiple other compliance programs. She also served as an internal consultant to Keebler for occupational health, medical and disaster management.
Ms. DiBenedetto has a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) from Hunter College and a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from Manhattan College in New York. She is a registered professional nurse (RN) and holds active licenses in NY, MI and CA. She is a board certified occupational health nurse specialist and case manager (COHN-S/CM). Ms. DiBenedetto was a senior disability analyst and diplomat of the American Board of Disability Analysts (ABDA) through 2015 and has been elected to the Society of Nursing Professionals. She has received numerous professional recognitions including the Schering Corporation Award in Occupation Health Nursing (a fore-runner of the Medique Leadership Award), and is a Fellow of the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (FAAOHN). Ms. DiBenedetto and her firm are approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) to provide nursing education (contact hours) as a continuing education provider. In 2011, Ms. DiBenedetto and her company received honorable mention by the Case In Point Platinum Awards for successful and innovative case management programs working to improve worker health across the health care continuum.
A frequent lecturer and author, Ms. DiBenedetto has served on the editorial board of Lippencott’s Professional Case Management, (formerly the official Journal of CMSA) and Occupational Health Management. She is the former Section Editor of AAOHN Journal’s Informatics Column and wrote a regular column on workers’ compensation for the Journal of Continuing Care. She has contributed to many works including the AAOHN and CMSA Core Curriculums. She is the lead author of the OEM Occupational Health & Safety Manual, and served on the editorial board of the Occupational & Environment Medicine (OEM) Report for over 12 years. She is well-known for her long-standing workers’ compensation and disability case management and certification review course and for speaking at national and local conferences on a variety of management, business and health issues.
